Team TUSD
Amy Busse
Amy has dedicated 26 years to the district, building a career rooted in connection, growth, and a love for teaching. Her journey began at Johnson Primary, followed by time at Maldonado, and she has now spent the past 19 years at Myers-Ganoung.Throughout her career, Amy has taken on a wide range of roles and taught various grade levels. “It’s a lot of fun because I get to do a lot of things. I get to be all over the school,” she said. “I get to help teachers, plan together, teach math and science, and work with kids in small groups. I kind of get all the parts about teaching that I love.”
Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Amy moved frequently as a child before settling in Tucson. “My dad was military, so we moved around,” she explained. “When I was in sixth grade, we moved here to Davis-Monthan, and I’ve been in TUSD ever since.”
Outside of school, Amy enjoys spending time with her family and staying active. “We like to cook together, go hiking, listen to music, and sing together. Tucson is a wonderful place to be because there’s always something happening.”
After nearly two decades at Myers-Ganoung, Amy says the school holds a special place in her heart. “Myers is such a wonderful place,” she said. “The diversity of the students, the supportive families, and the amazing staff make it special. We collaborate so well and find ways to make everything work for our students.”
She also values the relationships she has built over time. “I’m happy to come in every day. I’m happy to see my colleagues. I’m really happy to see the kids,” she said. “This is my second home.”
